STATEMENT FROM DFL CHAIRMAN KEN MARTIN ABOUT REP. ZELLERS ENTERING RACE FOR GOVERNOR

“Rep. Kurt Zellers’s short tenure as Speaker of the House will be forever remembered for his lack of leadership and uncompromising partisanship which led to the longest government shutdown in our state's history. Now he wants to run for Governor
“The last time Zellers was in a leadership position Minnesotans suffered because of his refusal to find common-ground on the pressing issues of our state. Instead of working towards compromise, he dug his heels in and forced government to shut down. Overwhelmingly, Minnesotans rejected his leadership in the 2012 midterms where his caucus was removed from power. Minnesotans spoke with a large voice in 2012, they didn't like his leadership then and they won't like it in November of 2014.
“After finally seeing some progress this past legislative session, the last thing Minnesotans need is to return to the times of ‘Shutdown Kurt’ where we would undoubtedly see gridlock, partisanship, and shutdowns once again.”
